A lot of teachers are wondering: How are we going to have a virtual end of the year celebration for our class? Sure, you can’t physically BE with your students, and it might take a little bit of extra planning, but you can still celebrate all of their hard work and have fun right through the computer screen… together! Here are 5 tips for the most epic virtual end of the year celebration!
1. Invitations
Get your students excited for the celebration by sending them invitations to this virtual event. You can send the invitations through email, or go old school and send them through the actual mail. (Do people even check their mail anymore?) Students are definitely going to be disappointed that all of the fun end of year activities are cancelled, so drumming up some excitement is a must.
2. Snacks
What’s a party without snacks? Invite your students to bring their favorite snack and drink to the party to enjoy. (#goldfish) Sorry, no sharing!
3. Let’s Dance!
Every end of the year celebration has some good music playing. Play some Kidz Bop through your computer and have a freeze dance challenge. If you’re really feeling adventurous, put on a GoNoodle and share your screen with your students so you can all do the moves together!
4. Photo Slideshow
Just because you’re not in the same room doesn’t mean you can’t have a photo slideshow! Put together your photos from your year in a PowerPoint and share your screen with your students while the slideshow is playing. Everyone will get to see and enjoy the pictures together!
5. Awards
Last, but not least, celebrate your students and all that they’ve done this year with student awards. You can share these virtually with students, or show them through the video chat and mail them home to students afterwards. They LOVE hearing which award they’ve won and cheering for each other!
If you’re planning a virtual end of the year celebration for your students, it can be disappointing that you’re not together. Use these 5 tips to make the best of the situation, and you and your students will wind up having an amazing time at your virtual celebration!
