Planning class parties is exhausting! Going to 87 stores, prepping all of the crafts and games, making snacks, and decorating your classroom.. All for an hour and a half party that’s supposed to be FUN, but leaves you more tired than an actual day of teaching!
Is this your reality too? If it is, I’ve got 5 of the easiest ideas for the best kindergarten Halloween party that won’t leave you needing a 14 hour nap at the end of the day. Low prep. Low management. All fun.
First up is a Halloween classic in the teacher world. You can find these bag of bones cheetos at your local grocery store or Walmart, but you need to grab them wayyyy before Halloween because once they’re gone, they’re gone. To prep, just put some cheetos in a baggie, and each student will sort their cheetos bones and graph them. This one is always a cheesy favorite!
Staying on the snack train is a super easy kindergarten approved snack… pudding! I decorate these regular plastic cups with a permanent marker to look like a cute Frankenstein. The night before the party, I make a few batches of instant vanilla pudding, and dye it green with a few drops of green food coloring. The kids spoon their pudding into their cups and can add crushed oreos or cool whip on top for hair. Then they get to relax and enjoy!
Next up is a super easy STEM activity that you already have most of the supplies for! Grab a bag of candy corn pumpkins and give each student 5 pumpkins and some building materials (blocks, popsicle sticks, clothespins, cardboard, pattern blocks, random items… ). Their goal is to make a fence for the 5 little pumpkins to sit on without falling off! And if they do that successfully, they can see who can build a fence for the MOST pumpkins.
The next activity is a craft. Which I’m sure you’re thinking, “how can this be low prep?” Well, the kids are invited to create their own pumpkins. No patterns, no model. Their very own pumpkins. I was REALLY worried about my lack of control the first year that I did this craft, but my kids LOVED getting to decide what they wanted their pumpkin to look like, and they were so, so creative! All you have to do is give them some orange, white, black, and green construction paper, scissors, glue, pencils, and crayons! (or maybe makers if you use those). Just put all of the supplies in baskets on the table, and let them do the work! Does it get easier than that?!
And finally, what’s a kindergarten party without a little BINGO!? If you don’t have a Halloween/Fall BINGO version yet, click here to get one sent right to your inbox. I like to let my kids use candy corn as the “chips” to cover up their pictures, and then they get a few pieces of candy corn to bring with them to eat at their next activity (because.. germs). This is really the only one that requires some prep. But once it’s prepped, you have it for years to come!
So, are you ready to have the best Halloween party ever and live to teach the next day?! Grab your Halloween BINGO, and then tell me…what are your favorite low prep Halloween party activities? Leave your ideas in the comments below!
