3…2…1 Back to School BASH!

If you’ve already hopped though and have made it to my blog, I’m glad you’re here! First up, here are some teacher tips that I hope will help you for the upcoming school year.

It’s always easier to talk with parents about negative things when you’ve previously established a relationship based on the positive. Keep a checklist of when you engage in positive communication with parents so that none of your kiddos slide under the radar. {This is also a great way to collect evidence for a parent communication goal.} I try to make my “happy calls” which can be a phone call or an email at least once a month. I set myself a goal to email or call a few parents each afternoon before I leave school. Just a few minutes go a long way!

Take pictures and make a PowerPoint of your morning routine. This will help students be independent, and will keep questions to a minimum. It is especially helpful in kindergarten when students may not be able to read a morning routine list yet!

Make super simple versions of activities that you use all year long. This will help your students learn the rules and routines behind the activities, and will save you from a lot of re-teaching once your curriculum is underway! {We use roll and color all the time in math, so I made a simple back to school picture version to teach it!}
